Baseball is back in the Bronx! The New York Yankees will kick off their 2025 season with a highly anticipated Opening Day afternoon matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday, March 27. With fans eager to see the Bronx Bombers return to action in the “cathedral of baseball,” here’s everything you need to know to make the most of the day.
To ensure a smooth entry into Yankee Stadium, fans should be prepared with mobile tickets, which must be downloaded and accessed via the MLB Ballpark App before arriving at security. It can be difficult to download tickets once you’re outside the stadium, as the Internet will work slower with so many fans trying to download them at once, so make sure you do it beforehand! Fans who have signed up for the free CLEAR app can use the designated lane at Babe Ruth Plaza to streamline stadium entry.
Only soft-sided bags that are 16 inches by 16 inches by 8 inches or smaller are allowed, but bags do not have to be clear or see through as some stadiums require.
There are many ways to travel to Yankee Stadium — it’s accessible by car, train, or bus! The main parking options available include:
• Yankee Stadium Parking at 1187 River Ave with a $35 flat rate
• Ruppert Plaza Garage at 1 Macombs Dam Park with a $49 self-park rate
• 161st Street Garage at 20 East 161st Street with a $49 self-park rate
• River Avenue Garage at 950 River Avenue with a $49 self-park rate
• Gerard Avenue Lot at 1011 Gerard Avenue with a $49 self-park
Local subways, buses and trains are also highly recommended, as they provide seamless travel to and from the stadium.
161st Street-Yankee Stadium is kitty-cornered to the stadium with access to the B, D and 4 subway lines. The MetroNorth is just a walk away from the stadium as well, at the Yankee Stadium-E 153rd St Station. Visitors from Long Island, Westchester and upstate New York may prefer this method of transportation.
