All three Bronx YMCA locations will be offering a complimentary 3-Day Pass to Bronx residents from May 1 through May 17. This offer is available to adults and families only.

Mujeres de Archivo: Latinx Women Resurrect the Record, curated by Nikki Meyers, is a multidisciplinary exhibition highlighting U.S.-based Latinx women and nonbinary artists who confront and reimagine what is considered an archive. This exhibition seeks to evaluate the influence of grassroots archives and “acts of transfer,” in the words of Diana Taylor. Beyond the scope of performance art, Mujeres de Archivo also includes family photographs, collages of domestic familiarities, reworked historical portraits, and craft-based directories of herbal medicines and unsung histories of Latin American women. Artists such as Groana Melendez, Cinthya Santos-Briones, Elia Alba, Lizania Cruz, and María José Crespo use archival fragments, both found and invented, to build new forms of documentation that are at once personal and collective. Their work highlights the gaps and violences embedded in “official” histories, while also offering generative alternatives. The exhibition invites viewers to engage with memory as a living practice. Through community workshops, oral history booths, and an evolving digital archive, visitors are also encouraged to contribute their own stories. In doing so, Mujeres de Archivo not only showcases the work of artists-as-archivists, but positions Latinx feminist memory work as a radical and ongoing intervention, with varying interpretations and underlying personal experiences.

The Third Avenue BID is pleased to present a summer concert series that reflects the culture, community, and music of the Bronx.

This event will be a joyful historical, cultural, and artistic celebration of the 250th anniversary of America’s Declaration of Independence, spotlighting the role of Gouverneur Morris in our borough’s history.

Master storytellers and historians will guide the experience, featuring music from the American Revolution period, readings from the Founding Documents, and live performances by choirs, balladeers, and actors.

The 2026 theme, Dream Big, Stay Rooted, is a call to action to aim for the stars while honoring and staying grounded in your heritage. To amplify this message, the festival lineup includes music, art, and dance—from homegrown Latin jazz, mambo, and salsa to Afro-Cuban hip-hop.

Since 2011, Casita Maria’s South Bronx Culture Festival (SBCF) has celebrated the vibrant cultures of the community through this free annual event, anchored by a new theme each year.

Presented by the Bronx Council on the Arts (BCA), Palladium Style! Celebrating the Golden Era of Dance is a free, family-friendly festival honoring the musicians and dancers who revolutionized the Latin dance craze of the 1950s.

From mambo, cha-cha, salsa, merengue, and pachanga, the festival will feature a live band performing music by Tito Puente, Tito Rodríguez, and Machito (“The Big Three”), along with professional dancers paying tribute to trailblazers Millie Donay, Carlos “ChaCha Taps” Arroyo, and Carmen Cruz.

Festival guests can also participate in dance demos, a Latin-themed arts workshop, and kid-friendly games and activities.
