City of Forest Day is an annual event that raises awareness of the importance of New York City’s urban forest, presented by Forest for All NYC, in partnership with other organizations. This year, Wave Hill offers a variety of ways to explore our local woodlands, from volunteering at our Community Woodland Volunteer Day, experiencing a session of forest bathing or touring our current exhibition Trees, we breathe. Participants can enjoy free admission to Wave Hill grounds by mentioning they are attending a City of Forest Day event.
Step into the fall season with the sweet sounds of doo-wop from Arthur Avenue’s own The Belmont 4. The talented acapella quartet will be serenading visitors with nostalgic tunes from the 50s and 60s as they stroll through the neighborhood and pop into local eateries from 6:30-8:30pm.
The North American tour will feature a full-length screening of the Disney film Moana and live performances with Hollywood style musicians, Polynesian rhythm masters, and vocals. Disney’s Moana live-to-concert film will be a thrilling experience for the whole family.
The Great Lawn transforms into a dance party during this lively celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month! Host and dance instructor Talia Castro-Pozo guides you through the steps of traditional styles of dance like salsa, samba, and cha-cha. As you master the moves, enjoy live music by Santiago y La Orquesta and take in the magnificent views of the Palisades and Hudson River.
Performance to feature Eve Weiss playing solo 19th century guitar works on her original period guitar, and with classical guitarist Daniel Conant, classical singer/actor Dan Cohen, and special guest, jazz violinist Jonathan Weiss. Reception to follow.
Celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Weekend, as we honor Indigenous communities and recognize their cultures and contributions through talks, hands-on activities, and an audio guide highlighting female Lenape Saunksquas (Chieftains) and their role in the 15th century Dutch-Indigenous alliance.
Where better to celebrate Italian American Heritage and Culture Month than one of the oldest Italian neighborhoods in New York City? In conjunction with Columbus Day, from 12:30-3:30pm, the band Pane e Cioccolato will once again fill the cross section at East 186th Street and Arthur Avenue with the sounds of traditional Italian music.
The Bronx Vegan Bazaar is the first vegan food expo for and by the Bronx. Held at the Andrew Freedman Home every Wednesday. A market experience for ‘big’ business owners sharing their delicious vegan food, pastries and natural juices to the community.
