Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson has partnered with the City College of New York’s (CCNY) Spitzer School of Architecture and the Bronx Chapter of the American Institute of Architects to collaborate with a studio of student architects.
Students will present proposals exploring the transformation and expansion of the Arthur Avenue Retail Market, with the winning team receiving awards from Bronx Borough President Gibson.

Pulsing to the beat of salsa, funk, disco, and hip-hop, TORCHED! transports audiences between 1970s New York—when the fires gripped headlines—and the present-day journey of survival and rebuilding.

Our 2026 theme, Dream Big, Stay Rooted, is a call to action to aim for the stars while honoring and staying grounded in your heritage. To amplify this message, the Festival line-up includes music, art and dance forms from homegrown Latin Jazz, Mambo and Salsa to Afro Cuban HipHop.
